Open Star Cluster M47 in Puppis

Description:

A magnificent rich open star cluster of 50 stars in the constellation Puppis, consisting of stars of different colors and magnitudes. The bright star in the upper right corner is variable star GCVS KQ Pup (mag 4.9). On the left edge of the image you can see part of the smaller open cluster NGC2425.

Takahashi TOA-130 5" apochromat refractor telescope, SBIG STV, Canon 10d digital camera.

Processing Used:

4x3 minutes, unguided images @ 800 ISO, combined in Images Plus (average combine, digital development) and further processed in Photoshop.
