Open Star Cluster M38 in Auriga

Description:

M38 is one of a string of three brilliant open clusters in Auriga. The string extends to M35 in Gemini. In this image, you can see the smaller open cluster NGC1907 to the right of the main cluster. You also can clearly see a number of reddish stars in the field (which are slightly yellowed due to the long photographic exposure).

Processing Used:

four 2.5-minute unguided images @ 800 ISO, combined in Images Plus (average combine, digital development) and further processed in Photoshop
